Our Pilates trainers hail from a wide variety of backgrounds and specialties and have many years of experience and numerous certifications. The result is a cohesive Pilates staff that can meet the wide array of interests and fitness goals of our clientele. Soma Pilates is run by one of the foremost instructors in the D.C. area, Heike Yates, who leads a team of the areas finest Pilates instructors, many of whom are Pilates MethodTM certified. As for the facility, its award-winning design puts a premium on light and space, making each workout a remarkable experience. The Pilates studio is fully equipped with Reformers, Cadillac, Wanda Chair, Spine Corrector, Ladder Barrel, the Ped-A-Pull and auxiliary equipment, as well as comfortable areas for mat classes.

SomaFit Pilates can be tailored to fit any client's fitness and skill levels. The "less is more" theory mandates fewer repetitions, but each one must be precisely executed. This results in longer, leaner muscles rather than sheer bulk, as well as greater flexibility and balance. PILATES MAT CLASSES

An exercise technique developed by Joseph Pilates that strengthens the core and builds body awareness. The intermediate/advanced curriculum focuses on flow and precision.
The beginner/ intermediate classes target optimal alignment, posture and core strength. The mat classes will leave you feeling strong and centered.

FITNESS ASSESSMENT

Find out what your fitness level is now and where you should be for optimal health and longevity. Our comprehensive fitness assessment will determine your baseline fitness, compare your results with national averages, set goals for your improvement and monitor your progress.

Assessment is done as the first session in a personal training package, or can be purchased alone.

NUTRITION
COUNSELING

Diet and exercise go hand-in-hand; it’s difficult to get the best results if you aren’t paying attention to both. With so many fad diets and supplement pushers out there it’s hard to know who to believe and what to eat. We will refer you to a registered dietitian to help you figure out how to eat in a way that works for your body and your lifestyle. Multiple sessions with a dietitian will help you to make healthy eating a habit for the rest your life.
